Eligibility |
- Privately financed international students studying or planning to enrol in master’s or doctoral program. Doctoral students exceeding their 3rd year are elligible to apply.
- Those who are from East Asia or South east Asia.

- Those who major in natural sciences. Please refer to the below guidelines for the detailed information.
- Those who are under 30 years old for master students and those who are under 35 years old for doctoral students as of April 1, 2015.
- Those who will not receive other scholarships after April, 2015.
- Those who will be able to attend five scholarship recipient meetings a year (including one 3-day overnight training trip).
- Those who desire to continue communication with the Iwatani Foundation after the completion of scholarship.
- Those who are expected to contribute to an international understanding and amity.
- Those who can communicate well in Japanese.

Applicants must submit the following documents to the foundation directly. All documents should be written in Japanese and by applicants. (Not to be written using PC)
- Application form 岩谷申請書
- Resume
- Personal Statement
- Research Plan
- Certificate of Enrolment
- Academic transcript of undergraduate or graduate school in Japan. Those who do not have one, academic transcript of their home countries
- Letter of Recommendation by academic supervisor (sealed)
- Medical check up report
- Picture (size of 5 x 3.5 cm, portrait)
- Self addressed envelope with 82 yen stamp (width 105 mm, length 235mm)
