GSFS conducts entrance examination twice a year, in August and February.
Application | Examinations | Enrollment | |
---|---|---|---|
Schedule A | late June | August | October, or April in the following year |
Schedule B | late November | February | April or October |
Examination methods that international students take are “Special Selection for Applicants with Overseas Education” or “Ordinary Examination“. All departments do not adopt both examination methods at each examination time, Schedule A and B. Therefore, please look into the guidelines well to find what methods is the best for your case. Guidelines are updated every April.
Guidelines for admission: http://www.k.u-tokyo.ac.jp/exam/
Applicants who are not fluent in Japanese are encouraged to take “Special Selection for Applicants with Overseas Education” because English is used in this method.
Inquiries should be sent to the Student Affairs Team (gsfs-exam [@] edu.k.u-tokyo.ac.jp; please replace [@] with @). All departments except for the department of Human and Engineered Environmental Studies, the department of International Studies, and the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science require applicants to come to Japan to sit for the examinations.
GSFS and The University of Tokyo have been collaborating with some scholarship programs in which applicants will know a scholarship grant result prior to an admission result. ILO strongly suggest you first seek the best scholarship program for yourself before or at the time of admission application so that you don’t have to look for financial aid after enrollment. Scholarship programs applicable after enrollment are limited, especially it is very hard for master course students to get one.
Available scholarship programs vary depending on department you are applying.
The following scholarship programs may be available to students who are applying to any department at GSFS. Each scholarship program specifies their own qualifications, so please check well before application.
