The University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Sciences will launch new activity
called “guided-tour” with student guides.
Within the tour, the guides will take guests to smart-city related facilities around the
Kashiwa no ha station, newly developed residential area.
The tour participants will learn the organization, the activities and various
facilities in the Urban Design Center Kashiwa-no-ha (UDCK) as well.
The tour will be planned and managed by the cooperation with government,
private firms and academia.
We now recruit GSFS student to be the tour guides.
The urban development around the Kashiwa no ha station area had a
turning point by opening the University of Tokyo satellite campus in 2013
and the Gate Square from April to July, 2014.
Now, domestic visitors and guests from overseas come and observe our smart-city project
and the UDCK activities.
The advanced framework we have been creating and beautifully organized facilities are also
introduced with daily basis.
On the other hand, students, faculties and staff in the Kashiwa campus have few opportunities
to know about the projects and facilities.
We believe that knowing and growing our interest toward the future plan of the area and the details of
those facilities will enhance desirable cooperation with people and research activities,
therefore our effort to grow people’s interest is essential.
Our campus location where we are surrounded by those fascinating areas with
advanced development is our strength because we can use them as a place of social experiment.
In order to use those resources effectively and draw an attention for the people’s cooperation,
enhancing the understanding of the local people is decisive.
For the students, the location of our campus may be a bit inconvenient but we hope this work,
being student guides and concierge officers, will grow their good pride and affection toward
the Kashiwa campus and the surrounding area.
We encourage you to join this program to be “tour guide/ concierge.”
Now we would like to invite you a tour guide currently managed UDCK to introduce
the Kashiwa no ha campus area. Usually joining in a tour is not free, but we will plan to
organize a special study tour for the new “guide” with free of charge on Tuesday, March 26, 2:30 pm~.
